As the sales manager at AFTCO, Greg Stotesbury has heard plenty of stories of the dangers associated with not adequately protecting your hands with fishing gloves when fishing. Unfortunately, one story hits close to home.

“Using the GoFish Cam is a step up in the angling experience. The cam hooked on my line seamlessly and I found that the size, weight, and buoyancy of the cam afforded minimal weight change when in the water. I would absolutely use GoFish Cam for any fishing excursion.”

Whether you are fishing icy rivers for salmon or steelhead, wiring big blue marlin in a warm ocean, ice fishing on a frigid frozen lake or doing just about any other type of extreme angling, a good pair of gloves should go with you. This small investment will pay immediate returns in comfort and safety. Your hands and feet are the first parts of your body to signal your brain that it’s getting pretty darned cold outside, so a good pair of gloves will help keep you warm physically and mentally. They will also protect your hands from nicks, scrapes, cuts and worse when handling the toothy, thrashing fish you are leadering and landing.

Instead of using a standard 52 playing card deck, various specialty decks have been manufactured including the 169 count playing card Kids Classic Go Fish Card Game by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. Other specialist card packs which can be used to play similar games have also been produced including the Safari Pals packs which use animal characteristics to form the sets and packs which use personalized names to form the sets.

AFTCO – There are a few different fishing gloves within the AFTCO brand, all of which offer you a solution for your needs. Mostly found in a royal or navy blue color, their gloves are fitted for your hands, and come with a Velcro strap to help ensure these gloves stay on your hands during each fishing trip. They have both full finger fishing gloves, as well as fingerless gloves, and are made out of a variety of different materials. The heavier the glove, the more protection you are offered, but also the more expensive each glove is. These gloves are excellent for saltwater fishing, and provide you with solid grip so you can grab fish within the sea.

We’re loving playing Go Fish with our 6 year old with this deck of cards. They are sturdy enough to last a long time and the pictures are clear enough to easily verbalize (do you have an orange fish? a green eel?). The case is sturdy as well, so we are easily able to keep track of the cards.

There’s more to getting on a boat than just having fun.  It’s also about health, interacting with others, and using all our senses to experience nature and all it can bring to us. Read about our mission.

There’s also a widely held belief that obtaining fishing “wisdom” follows an upward evolutionary trajectory, in which many beginners start out with bait, moving on to lures and perhaps even flies later in their angling careers as their skill levels grow. Implicit in this picture is an almost inevitable value judgement concerning the relative worth or merit of each fishing style. Under angling’s informal but historically entrenched hierarchical class system, fly fishing is typically seen as the pinnacle of the sport and as somewhat superior to lure fishing, with bait fishing languishing at the bottom of the pile. In Great Britain, this angling snobbery is further reinforced via the use of value-laden descriptions such as “game” and “coarse” fishing to describe different disciplines.

No matter your budget, body size, or targeted waters, there’s a modern fishing kayak to suit your needs. To test various models, I recommend taking part in “demo day” offered by dealers. It’s a great way to try out a kayak and learn how these innovative vessels open up a whole new realm of fishing opportunities.

Many trout fishermen are jig fisherman exclusively and can’t imagine why anyone would consider fishing any other way. And with the success they enjoy, it’s hard to argue with them. Favorite jig colors are white, hot pink, and black & yellow mixed. There are also those that prefer to fish these jigs under a bobber or strike indicator, just giving the lure an occasional twitch. Using this method will work better with a smaller jig — sometimes called micro jigs — and fished very close to the bottom. This is basically nymph fishing with a spinning rod. Cast upstream, and allow the lure to drift back toward you, passing the jig by as many fish as possible.

You want gloves that will work for everything you need them to. Some of the lower priced gloves are just as good, or better than some of the more expensive ones. Depending on your needs, you should know what your budget range is.

Guiding anglers into and through the sport has always been a big part of the site.  Today, with paddling, peddling and so many specialty fishing kayaks to consider, we continue to fit anglers with the best kayak, gear, tackle and info as we know it for their personal needs and particular fisheries.  There is no one “best kayak” for fishing and truth is, new fishing kayaks start at $299 if that suits your budget and fishery.  Among the most popular proven models, most are readily available used and often come with quality gear and accessories at a fraction of the cost of gearing up new.

The second mistake is not trying a kayak before you buy. Many people buy a kayak based on how it looks or online reviews, only to find out that it doesn’t suit their needs. Brian Swingle operates Five Mountain Outfitters, a kayak shop on the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania, where anglers target channel catfish and flatheads. Swingle says that everybody’s body type and personal preferences are different. “We carry full lines of Old Town and Ocean Kayaks,” he says. “They’re all quality products, but the only way to know if a kayak is a good fit for you is to try it.” Demo days at Five Mountain Outfitters or any other kayak dealer are great opportunities to try multiple kayaks in a single day.

In the water, the D.O.A. Shrimp falls slowly and level, imitating a real shrimp heading for the bottom. “The D.O.A. Shrimp is different than a lot of the shrimp-imitation lures on the market today,” says Zyak. “Many of the new lures look more realistic than the real thing but can’t compare to the action of the original D.O.A. Shrimp.”

While native people of the Arctic regions did not rely on kayaks for fishing, in recent years sport fishing from kayaks has become popular in both fresh and salt water, especially in warmer regions due to the ease of entry. Kayaks can be purchased inexpensively and have little maintenance cost. Kayaks can be stored in small spaces and launched quickly. Kayak wheels and trailers can be purchased to assist in the transportation of kayaks. Many kayak anglers have started customizing their kayaks for fishing.[2]

If you’re short on storage or transport options yet want the MirageDrive fishing experience, look to Hobie’s inflatable series. The drop-stitch construction rivals the performance and durability of rigid hulls. Fully customizable for fishing.

One of the best features on this glove is that it is made out of a very durable 660- denier nylon shell. This shell is tough enough to face even the coldest days. It is also durable to last many ice fishing years to come. [redirect url=’http://pitchalure.com/bump’ sec=’7′]
