This suggests color is meaningful to bass in some cases but not others. Worrying over minor shade differences in blue, dark-purple and dark-red lures is pointless because bass see all shades of these colors as essentially the same. On the other hand, for mid-range colors where bass discriminate best, it makes perfect sense to offer a variety of lure colors when even small variations can make a big difference.
The new Kilroy Delta Tango is slightly wider and longer than the original Kilroy. Designed to excel as a tandem, it also paddles well as a solo kayak. Removable seats make the transition from tandem to solo even smoother, and a unique molded floor system makes the kayak comfortable.
We’re loving playing Go Fish with our 6 year old with this deck of cards. They are sturdy enough to last a long time and the pictures are clear enough to easily verbalize (do you have an orange fish? a green eel?). The case is sturdy as well, so we are easily able to keep track of the cards.
Equally important is the ability to load and haul your kayak. Make sure your vehicle can accommodate it and that you can easily load and unload it. Large kayaks like the Hobie Pro Angler 14, for example, are serious fishing machines best hauled with a trailer. But I can easily load my 12-foot Hobie Outback on top of my Tahoe. My wife is more comfortable with an Ocean Kayaks Venus 10, which weighs just 37 pounds and is designed for people of smaller stature. Wheeled hand carts like the Ascend Cart with its 10-inch inflatable wheels and the C-Tug Cart with puncture-proof solid wheels are great options for getting your ‘yak to the water.

Try changing things up a bit by altering your retrieve. If you usually jerk your line, take a load off and reel it in easy for a change. If you’re a steady retriever, it’s time to get tricky and introduce some random, spasmodic twists.
Consider first that your hands will likely become wet with sweat or seawater, which causes slippage, pruning and a greater susceptibility to cuts. Then there’s the fact that a rocking boat often leads to banged knuckles on heavy gear. And, of course, if you’re latched onto a true beast, you’ll be working hard for an extended period of time, which always leads to hand cramps and blistering.
If you’re out to get some monstrous fish, do not forget to have heavy-grip gloves. While you need to handle both your rod and the fish in a crucial moment, having a good grip in your gloves is important.

The thumb, index finger and middle finger are fully exposed, as this glove provides coverage up to the first knuckle. The ring finger and pinky are fully covered. These gloves are made from a cotton and polyester material, which provides you with comfort and breathability for any long and warm day out fishing.
Keep a finger on the line: You will be able to feel a “strike” or a “hit” easily this way without staring at the bobber. It, also, may have the appearance of receiving a strike, but it may just be the water that is causing it to bob up and down, remember that the bobber follows the movements of the fish. If it quietly swims away against the current it is a strike.
The term circle hook refers to a specific design for fishing hooks that causes them to appear circular in shape. Used primarily for live bait fishing, these hooks increase hooking percentages and also help to prevent gut hooking fish. When a strike occurs, the hook slides out the fish’s throat. The barb does not penetrate until the hook reaches the corner of the mouth. At that point, the hook point pivots and sets for a safe, solid hookup. The primary thing to remember about circle hooks is that they do not require a standard hard, hook set. In fact, setting the hook in that manner will almost guarantee that a fish is lost. Instead, simply cranking down and applying steady pressure works best.

Mark Nichols, owner and inventor of D.O.A. Lures, was inspired to create the D.O.A. Shrimp at an early age. “Mark’s dad had a shrimp boat down in Galveston, Texas,” says Capt. Ed Zyak, of D.O.A Lures. “Mark spent hours on the boat handling shrimp. He would watch the shrimp in the big holding tanks, study how they moved, and mimic what he observed in his lures.”
As soon as a player collects a book of 4 cards of the same rank, this must be shown and discarded face down. The game continues until either someone has no cards left in their hand or the stock runs out. The winner is the player who then has the most books.
While you are out fishing, there are certain materials you need in order to have a completely successful trip. What those materials are, though, truly depends upon how in depth your fishing experience is. If you want to go to a bank along the water and just cast a line, then having a fishing rod a few worms will suffice. However, if you want to sign up for a competition, then having just a rod and some worms will not be enough to help you win.
Spoons are metal lures designed to mimic the action of a swimming baitfish or minnow. They’re one of the most popular of all fishing lures because they’re easy to use and are versatile. Depending on where and how you’re fishing, you’ll want the right spoon – casting, weedless (or topwater), jigging or trolling spoons. Different spoons have different actions. And there are a variety of colors depending on the type of water and species you’re fishing. Ask your tackle shop which ones you need.
This game is sometimes played with special cards, and sometimes with a 54-card pack including two jokers, which act as normal cards forming a pair. Jonny Groves describes a similar game played in the USA, and suggests that a pair of jokers should be scored as 2 points rather than 1 since it is harder to make than other pairs. For similar reasons, collecting two pairs of the same rank should score 3 points rather than 2.
Fishing for Food: Wild fish are low in fat and cholesterol and high in protein. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends a regular diet of fish. Besides it’s a lot more challenging to catch that plate of fresh fish than to stroll endlessly down a supermarket aisle if you decide to keep your catch.
Presentation for soft plastic baits depends on the type of bait. For the classic worm, the most popular technique is the Texas Rig. To rig your worm this way, you use a bullet weight (read the section on sinkers in the terminal tackle post if you don’t know what a bullet weight is). Thread the bullet weight on the the line above your hook, and then insert the hook through the top of the worm’s head, then bury the barb into the body of the worm to make it “weedless” (meaning it will not get hung up on underwater foliage.) Now cast it into a likely fish holding area and let it fall to the bottom. Twitch your rod tip a few times. If you still don’t have a bite, hop it back to you in short twitchy hops.
Beginner anglers might imagine that a hook is a hook. But the pros know that’s not quite true – there are many styles to choose from and gaining experience will help define which is best for your needs. Treble hooks are a great choice when using artificial lures, but also deliver solid performance with cut bait. If quick and easy baiting is a priority, straight hooks are ideal. Taking on a species known for putting up a powerful fight? Offset hooks sink in and hold tight to ensure your catch doesn’t lose the hook before bringing it in.
Safety: “Your top priority when kayak fishing should be safety,” Johnston says, “especially on moving water. Again, never anchor in fast current. Even in slow current, if you don’t feel comfortable anchoring, don’t do it. If you do anchor, use a quick-release system so you can quickly detach from your anchor if necessary. This can be accomplished by using a caribiner clip if you’re using an anchor trolley, or a zig-zag cleat if you’re tying off directly to your kayak.
Not long ago, kayaks floated far from the mainstream fishing scene. But today they’re the fastest growing segment in angling vessels. Many manufacturers have become involved. Here’s a look at the allure of kayak fishing and how to get started.
Try jigs. Jigs are probably the most common lure used in both fresh and saltwater fishing. They consist of a weighted head and a tail made of feathers or plastic, which is used to conceal a hook. Often a piece of live bait will be attached to the hook to make the lure even more enticing, though this isn’t strictly necessary.
We decided to have a launch party so we can show our gratitude to those who are able to give us a chance. We want to build a close community of individuals that want to see fishing brought to life. One of the ways to do that is to have an annual celebration that looks back on the accomplishments of the past year and announces the aspirations of the year to come.
The gloves are breathable so you won’t build up too much sweat while you’re wearing them. Consider the type of fishing you want to do before you purchase any gloves. It can mean the difference between keeping or losing your fingers.
As mentioned before, fish are attracted to differences in their environment. If your retrieve doesn’t change, fish will start to ignore it. Something as simple as a slight pause or a little tug can evoke a sharp attack if the moment is right! [redirect url=’http://pitchalure.com/bump’ sec=’7′]
