This is Go Fish without the stock pile. All the cards are dealt out as equally as possible to the players. A turn consists of asking a player for a rank (or a specific card if you play that version). If they have it your turn continues; if not the turn passes to the next player player to the left. As in Go Fish, you must have a card of the rank you asked for. Books of 4 cards are discarded. The game continues until all the cards are formed into books, and whoever gets most books wins – or you can score one point per book and play to a target score.
Hook size depends on a variety of factors, so be sure to assess your fishing situation before making a purchase. First and foremost, determine the species you’re after. A smaller species is well accommodated by a smaller hook. . No matter what the goal is, prepare for fishing expeditions with items from our selection of terminal tackle.
Designed with first-time kayak anglers in mind, the Intrepid’s multi-chine hull puts a premium on stability and tracking, yet offers impressive acceleration and speed for its size. It’s equipped with three rod holders and a smartphone on the dash.

The Move Angler is the perfect kayak for kids and smaller paddlers getting into the sport of kayak fishing. The Move Angler comes equipped with molded-in handles, recessed fittings, and the Wheel in the Keel. Its “tri-hull” design offers great stability and efficient tracking while paddling. Its hull weighs only 42 pounds, making it very easy for any solo paddler to maneuver the kayak on or off the water — even a younger paddler.
The third mistake is equating a kayak to a poor man’s boat. Often anglers settle for a kayak because they can’t afford the larger boat they want. Boats and kayaks are different fishing platforms. If a larger or different boat is what you want, you most likely won’t be happy in a kayak.
Bait your hook. While it depends on the kind of bait you’re using, in general, you’ll want to work the hook through your bait as many times as possible to keep it securely on the hook. Holding the hook securely in one hand, start 1/3 of the way from the bottom of the bait, and push it straight through. Bend the bait back toward the hook and pierce the bait again about halfway. At least two or three secured piercings should be fine.
You can also use the needle nosed pliers to crush the barb on your hook, to make it easier to remove. Some professionals recommend doing this before casting your line out (especially when fishing for catfish), to make it easier to release your catch. It truly works best with circle/octopus circle type hooks. These hooks make it easier to set the hook in the lip/corner of the fish’s mouth; without much effort on your part.
Bait tank: There are a few onboard livewell options for kayaks, and most are large, heavy, and expensive. A YouTube search reveals several do-it-yourself plans if you intend to keep live shad. An option for hardier baits is a flow-through bait container like a Frabill Flow Troll Bucket. They create drag but perform much better than stringers for baits like bluegills. To keep cutbait fresh, the best option I’ve found is the soft-side Yeti 12-Pack Hopper. If you vacuum-seal baits in individual bags and your lunch and drinks in another, it’s a good option for even the hottest of days.
Immerse yourself in the fresh air with sit-on-top kayaks that let you sit on top of the kayak rather than in a cockpit. Paddle keepers, rod holders and swivel rod holders make sit-on-top designs ideal for fishing kayaks, and padded seats allow you to lean back comfortably as you cast out your line and wait for a big catch. Fishing kayaks offer durability and storage space for all your gear.
