For many fisherman, gloves are an essential piece of equipment. When cleaning fish, you want to ensure you filet the fish, not your fingers. And if you’re more of a catch and release guy, gloves will allow you to grip the fish without squeezing the fish (and damaging vital organs). Wetting the gloves will also ensure you don’t remove the fish’s protective slime layer while handling.

Are the fish telling you anything? Sometimes you must experiment and let the fish tell you what they want. Switch colors periodically without changing any other variables, and pay attention to details when fish hit. If you can fish with multiple poles or multiple lures, start with a mix of colors and see if fish show a preference. Often a single rod gets all the action until you switch all lures to the “color of the day.”
When fishing with sinking lures, vary the depth of the retrieve until you find where the fish are. You can do this but counting at a steady rate each time you cast and then starting the retrieve and progressively higher numbers. Once you find the depth where you get a bite, keep fishing that depth.
Michael Ernst is a diehard fishing transplant from Minnesota. He grew up guiding for muskies from a Ranger Z20 Comanche and now plies the rivers and reservoirs of Tennessee in his Jackson Big Tuna kayak for everything from muskies and stripers to crappies and trout. “In all my years of guiding from my Ranger,” Ernst says, “I was never able to spot a big muskie, target it with a lure, and make it bite. They can see you or are affected by the vibration of the trolling motor, and your odds of connecting with a trophy fish are reduced. But I‘ve often spotted muskies in clear Tennessee rivers, paddled close enough to make a good cast, and the fish eat the lure. The paddle strokes associated with a kayak seem like a natural splashing sound to fish that doesn’t register as threatening. They continue their feeding routine, even though you’re only a couple yards away.”

So far as I know, games of this type first appeared in the mid 19th century and were played with special cards. In Britain there was Spade the Gardener, in which players collect families of five cards, later superseded by Happy Families, in which each family consists of four cards (mother, father, son, daughter). In the USA, the game of Dr Busby, also based on families, was first published in 1843, followed by Authors in 1861. I do not know whether these games were based on an earlier game played with standard cards, or whether the adaptation to use a standard pack came later.

The Lindy Fish Handling Glove has another advantage over its competitors- SuperFabric. This revolutionary fabric has been adapted for use in industrial, safety and military applications, so it will certainly withstand a slippery fish and your fillet knife. The fabric is enhanced with a configuration of tiny armor plates that provide resistance to piercing objects. From fishing hooks to barbs to sharp teeth and fins, this glove will ensure your hands remain unscathed while handling your catch. The fabric is also extremely flexible, even when used in multiple layers. We challenge you to find a more materially sound product on the market.
According to Johnston, there are three common mistakes people make when purchasing a kayak. The first is buying a $300 kayak from a big box store because it’s on sale. Kayaks are like most other things in life—you get what you pay for. Cheap kayaks are typically less durable, less stable, and less comfortable than quality brands.
Great article. One of the simplest lures amongst several hundred in 4 very large tackle boxes. I’ve even caught rainbow trout on Blue Ridge parkway to snook off the beaches of Gulf Shores with these jigs. I like your site.
Some ice anglers prefer to wear a mitt rather than a glove. That’s the only difference between this and the IceArmor Gloves: same features, same performance, but your fingers are huddled together. • Made with windproof, waterproof and breathable material.

Try jigs. Jigs are probably the most common lure used in both fresh and saltwater fishing. They consist of a weighted head and a tail made of feathers or plastic, which is used to conceal a hook. Often a piece of live bait will be attached to the hook to make the lure even more enticing, though this isn’t strictly necessary.
Durability – Once you have found the right fishing glove for your needs (for example you may need fly fishing gloves, waterproof fishing gloves or cold weather/winter fishing gloves), you want to ensure that you have a fishing glove that will last a long time. You don’t want to be replacing your fishing gloves multiple times during a season, as that is an added expense that you do not need to incur. However, if you have a very inexpensive glove, as that is the one you are most comfortable with, then you know what you are getting yourself into.
