No one knows more about this subject than Charles Perry. Generally recognized as the top wireman on the planet, Perry has been pulling on huge tunas and marlin from Australia to Madeira and everywhere in between for decades.
Fishing lures come in many shapes, colors and styles. There are crankbaits, spinnerbaits, umbrella rigs, topwater frogs and rats and who-knows-what, jerkbaits, jigs, buzzbaits and a whole lot more. Lures are designed for specific techniques, and to be fished a certain way. In some cases fish can’t get enough of a certain lure at one time of year, then won’t look at it at other times. Key to fishing with lures is experience and an open mind. Learn what your fish want to eat, then match it with your lures, but always be ready to learn a new technique or try a different tactic.
There are a lot of fishing lures in a lot of sizes, shapes and colors. As you understand more about the environment fish live in and how they behave, you will learn which fishing bait or lure is best for specific fish during different seasons of the year.
Presentation for soft plastic baits depends on the type of bait. For the classic worm, the most popular technique is the Texas Rig. To rig your worm this way, you use a bullet weight (read the section on sinkers in the terminal tackle post if you don’t know what a bullet weight is). Thread the bullet weight on the the line above your hook, and then insert the hook through the top of the worm’s head, then bury the barb into the body of the worm to make it “weedless” (meaning it will not get hung up on underwater foliage.) Now cast it into a likely fish holding area and let it fall to the bottom. Twitch your rod tip a few times. If you still don’t have a bite, hop it back to you in short twitchy hops.
The Abaco Bay Sun Glove is a new 50 UPF lycra on back and palm makes this our lightest sun glove. New pattern design protects fingers from harmful rays of the sun. We have also lengthened the cuff to protect against sunburn at wrist.
Cast your lure and point the rod tip toward the water at a 45 degree angle. Move the rod tip downward to a 90 degree angle in a jerking motion. Turn the reel handle 1 turn for every jerk. Move the rod slowly at first, and then gradually increase the speed to copy the movement of a bait fish swimming away.
For more advanced rigging, Scotty and YakAttack make gear tracks that make it easy to remove or reposition rod holders and other accessories like a GoPro camera. Many new accessories are designed to mount on Scotty bases or Gear Head Track Adapters so anglers can modify ‘yaks to fit their changing needs without drilling holes in the hull.

When fishing with sinking lures, vary the depth of the retrieve until you find where the fish are. You can do this but counting at a steady rate each time you cast and then starting the retrieve and progressively higher numbers. Once you find the depth where you get a bite, keep fishing that depth.
Color – Fish can see color. Using a variety of colors to attract fish is a great way to test and hone your angling game. Remember to consider the depth and clarity of the water you’re in. Even the flashiest lures won’t do much good in deep or murky water.

This game is sometimes played with special cards, and sometimes with a 54-card pack including two jokers, which act as normal cards forming a pair. Jonny Groves describes a similar game played in the USA, and suggests that a pair of jokers should be scored as 2 points rather than 1 since it is harder make than other pairs. For similar reasons, collecting two pairs of the same rank should score 3 points rather than 2.
“I expected to have a ton of tangles casting it and that I would only be able to troll it, that is not the case, cast after cast after cast and no tangles. Being able to wifi directly to my phone, I don’t need to wait to get home to find a computer to put my card in. The battery life is great, the night vision is so bright, and footage comes in clear. I fish the Saskatchewan river where you can’t see a foot below the surface and yet my videos come in nice and clear.”
The hook point is probably the most important part of the hook. It is the point that must penetrate fish flesh and secure the fish. The profile of the hook point and its length influence how well the point penetrates. The barb influences how far the point penetrates, how much pressure is required to penetrate and ultimately the holding power of the hook. Hook points are mechanically (ground) or chemically sharpened. Some hooks are barbless. Historically, many ancient fish hooks were barbless, but today a barbless hook is used to make hook removal and fish release less stressful on the fish. Hook points are also described relative to their offset from the hook shank. A kirbed hook point is offset to the left, a straight point has no offset and a reversed point is offset to the right.

The different types of best fishing gloves available for fishing are endless. There are so many to choose from, but there is one from this list that stands out from the rest. The Kast Gear Steelhead Glove is my favorite from this list. I recommend it because it doesn’t look like your typical fishing glove, it suits with your Life Jackets and it has a lot of great features. [redirect url=’http://pitchalure.com/bump’ sec=’7′]
