While a real shrimp — dead or alive — might be the preferred morsel for most oceanic creatures, today’s shrimp imitators raise the bar so high that I’m compelled to go artificial. Sure, some tough bites require a lively crustacean flowing with the current in crystal-clear waters, but for the majority of target species, anglers can easily learn to work a well-designed artificial shrimp fishing lure to draw strikes.

One of the Lone Star State’s largest fishing publications, Texas Saltwater Fishing magazine, recently covered two of Fish Monkey’s hottest new products: the Half-Finger Guide Glove and The Stubby. Both are perfect for anglers pursuing all kinds of game fish, from marlin to redfish and trout.

When it comes to finding the right fishing glove, there are a few determining factors you need to consider in order to find the fit for you. Clearly, you will have different needs if you are ice fishing versus fishing over the open waters in a warmer environment. From there, once you determine what kind of fish you will typically be fishing for, and what kinds of dangers they pose, if any, will help you determine the kind of material you need. Then, when it comes to comfort, you can figure out if you need full fingered gloves versus having fingerless gloves.

One other feature you should look out for, especially if you fish in areas where it is typically warmer and the sun is out more often, is finding fishing glove which can offer you protection from getting a sunburn. This is especially true for fingerless gloves, as you don’t want the tips of your fingers to get burnt badly while out on the boat, and, if you put sunscreen on the tips of your fingers, then they become more greasy, which means slippier, which then defeats the whole reason you have fishing gloves to start with.

Ice Fishing Tip: One important tip to keep in mind when ice fishing  with gloves, is that no matter how waterproof your gloves may be, it only takes one hook to allow water to get it. I know that may seem obvious, but you would be surprised how many fishermen ruin their expensive ice fishing gloves with one lousy fishing hook. One thing that has helped me is a good pair of fishing pliers. This puts some distance between the hooks and my gloves. Also, keep this is mind when storing your gloves. The last place you want your gloves to end up is in your tacklebox with all kinds of hooks to get into them.

Avid kayakers can enjoy the features of sit-in kayaks, which may be equipped with an adjustable seat, molded-in cup holders, padded cushioning and roomy cockpits for extended time on the water. When browsing through kayaks for sale, you can find kayaks and canoesto help customize or store your kayak.

An early written reference to a fish hook is found with reference to the Leviathan in the Book of Job 41:1; Canst thou draw out leviathan with a hook? Fish hooks have been crafted from all sorts of materials including wood, animal[5] and human bone, horn, shells, stone, bronze, iron up to present day materials. In many cases, hooks were created from multiple materials to leverage the strength and positive characteristics of each material. Norwegians as late as the 1950s still used juniper wood to craft Burbot hooks. [6] Quality steel hooks began to make their appearance in Europe in the 17th century and hook making became a task for specialists.[7]

Quick History: Although there are a ton of swimbaits out there to choose from, this is the original, and it comes in sizes that will catch fish from dink bream to magnum marlin. There’s no telling how many species of fish have fallen for this boot-tailed softbait since its introduction in the 1980s.

Method #3: rig the worm as in method #2, above. Cast into a deep pool with a slow current. Again reel the worm in slowly. Keep your rod tip up and try to keep an eye on the worm. Every couple of seconds, give the worm a few twitches with the rod tip. If you can see the worm as you reel it in, you’ll begin to grasp how alive these things can look with just a little twitch here and there. Experiment with the action to achieve the “swimmiest” look you can. Here’s the kicker on this one. This retrieve will get every fish’s attention in the stream. At some point, a fish will grab the worm and try to run away with it hanging from the corner of his mouth. Instantaneously, every other fish in the river will want that worm. So, if you attempt to set the hook and instead pull the worm out of the fish’s mouth, let the worm sit right there without a move for a couple of seconds. Very often, another fish will viciously attack it. Very exciting.

Fishing gloves can be used not only for larger fish, but for those who also fish in the winter. And each of those applications means you will need a different kind of glove. here are many different factors when it comes to finding the right kind of fishing glove for your needs, and you may need to end up getting more than one type of glove, depending upon how often you go out fishing.

If you are ice fishing, clearly you will need ice fishing gloves which are thicker. However, thickness is not the only factor here; you can also search for gloves which offer an extra layer of thermal protection. The thermal protection will ensure your hands stay warm, no matter the temperature outside, and also help your hands from not getting frigid if your gloves end up getting wet. There are some fishing gloves on the market which will allow water to penetrate right thru them; if this happens while you are ice fishing, then your hands could be in danger of getting frost bite. Knowing the material within each fishing glove is vital to your own well-being.

The player to dealer’s left starts. A turn consists of asking a specific player for a specific rank. For example, if it is my turn I might say: ‘Mary, please give me your jacks’. The player who asks must already hold at least one card of the requested rank, so I must hold at least one jack to say this. If the player who was asked (Mary) has cards of the named rank (jacks in this case), she must give all her cards of this rank to the player who asked for them. That player then gets another turn and may again ask any player for any rank already held by the asker.

The gloves are made of neoprene. Neoprene is a material that comes with amazing gripping ability, yet not adding too much weight. Also, neoprene offers better flexibility to the fingers. Maneuvering the equipment during spear fishing is not a problem anymore.

Another popular method of fishing from kayaks which has emerged is that of softbaiting. This involves weighted jigheads and rubber or plastic soft lures in the shapes of baitfish. This method is the predominant method now used, particularly in the Southern hemisphere, as it reduces the need to take messy livebaits on board the kayak.[7]

We had another week with copious amounts of rain so the water clarity was murky and the amount of vegetation had not only increased in area but also in thickness. Every cast with the Rapala resulted in treble hooks with clumps of grass.  I continued to throw the Rapala determined to stick with my game plan.  I had purposely left most of my tackle trays back in my truck so I would be forced to stick with a lure/technique until it worked.  This is actually one of my goals for this season – make a game plan and try and stick to it.  Too many times I’ve gone out fishing and spent most of my time switching baits and tying on different lures instead of fishing.  To paraphrase a well-known cliché, plan to fish and fish the plan.  During days of tough fishing this hard to do but perseverance does have its rewards. While it might not be always be the size you are looking for but a small fish is better than no fish.

The game then continues into a second phase, in which players ask for complete families. The winner of the first phase begins, and the player who manages to accumulate all eleven families wins the second half of the pool.

Get a variety of lures to experiment. The primary purpose of fishing with a lure is to imitate as best as possible the movements of a fish’s natural prey. Consequently, there is a huge selection of materials, colors, and shapes of fishing lures, each suited for a particular scenario or fish. There’s no such thing as “the best” lure and colour combination to use, so it’s good to get a variety and see what works best for you and the fish you’re trying to catch.

Spoons are curved metal lures. The first spoons were just that, spoons with the handle broken off. Today, spoons can be had (like all other lures) in any color and size. There is a spoon for every fishing situation. The shape of this lure gives it its distinctive action. Spoons move through water with a side-to-side wobble that simulates an injured baitfish, and game fish just love injured baitfish. [redirect url=’http://pitchalure.com/bump’ sec=’7′]

  1. Are the fish telling you anything? Sometimes you must experiment and let the fish tell you what they want. Switch colors periodically without changing any other variables, and pay attention to details when fish hit. If you can fish with multiple poles or multiple lures, start with a mix of colors and see if fish show a preference. Often a single rod gets all the action until you switch all lures to the “color of the day.”

Rod Holders: Several rod holders are made specifically for kayaks such as Scotty and Ram brands. “How many rod holders you add to your kayak and where you place them is up to you,” Johnston says. “I have four rod holders mounted on my kayak and I adjust their positions based on the type of fishing I’m doing. Also make sure the butt ends of your rods fit into the holders and can be easily removed.” Kayaks like the Old Town Predator XL have pre-installed mounting plates on the hull to install Yak Attack GearTracs, which allow convenient mounting and removal of rod holders and other accessories anywhere along the gunnel.
Sound – Fish can be attracted to or scared off by a variety of sounds. Lures that make popping or buzzing sounds can have an amazing effect on certain types of fish but may be ignored by others. Also consider the size of the fish you’re hunting. Big fish may attack at a sound that would scare a smaller fish away.
